The Vector Development Group has two functions and responsibilities (a) exploring and implementing new AAV-based vectors and production technologies, as well as (b) exploring new technologies for the analytical characterization of AAV products. Those two areas are major contributors to the quality of our AAV-based products as well as value generators by delivering new technologies. The activities are supporting the whole scope of AAV product development and should lead to alternative and/or improved AAV-based vector systems.

Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and responsibilities):

  • To develop and characterize next generation AAV vector production methods
  • To develop new assays for the molecular, biochemical and biophysical characterization of AAV and the fundamental components of the production platform
  • To drive continuous development and improvement of AAV vectors through rational design and directed evolution
  • To rationally design and evaluate strategies that may increase the production yield, quality, potency and infectivity of uniQure’s vectors.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • PhD (molecular biology, virology, biochemistry).
  • Proven scientific experience, preferably trained within the field of molecular biology, gene therapy, virology, biochemistry
  • Experience with working in a fast changing and demanding environment, willing and able to act a pro-actively.
  • Knowledge about the design of analytical methods
  • Ability to present and report his/her findings in a clear and structured way
  • Practical management skills: Good practical planning and organizing skills
