Scientist Process Development (DSP), Amsterdam

The role:

The Process Development (PD) department at uniQure Amsterdam is responsible for process development towards Phase I/II clinical testing. In addition, the department supports the Lexington uniQure PD in process development for Phase Ill and MAA, with scaling-up, process characterization and process validation as main deliverables. The both PD departments support the various stages of process development from research to GMP manufacturing.
The PD team in Amsterdam consists of scientists and technicians lead by a principle scientist. The scientist PD will join this team to support the various stages of process development from research to GMP manufacturing.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, coordinate and perform the studies for (IND enabling) CMC programs as well as continuous platform improvement
  • Coordinates activities in the lab in collaboration with the team scientists and technicians.
  • Writes and reviews protocols and reports.
  • Take place in project CMC-teams as process representative
  • Correct and timely execution of experiments: The scientist reviews and approves BPR's and reports for projects under his/her responsibility.
  • Proactively informs and advises the development team and the CMC team on developments within own expertise field.
  • Represent own expertise field within and outside the company.

You will need:

  • A PhD degree (Bioprocess Engineering, Life sciences or comparable)
  • Preferably 2 years of experience in a comparable position in a biopharmaceutical organization.
  • Experience in process development with a focus on DSP, preferable in (complex) biologics, especially gene therapy or viral vaccines.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Affinity or experience with GMP manufacturing
  • High level of ownership, energy, hands-on mentality and personal drive
  • Demonstrated communication capabilities (effectively describing and conveying complex issues through reporting and presentations)
  • Although focus of this position is on DSP, candidates with broad understanding of all aspects of process development are encouraged to apply.
