Position Summary:

The Medical Affairs Manager will drive business value by leveraging his/her Medical Affairs expertise to provide support to the Medical Affairs organization and participate in building a best-in-class Global Medical Affairs at uniQure. The Manager will develop and implement defined goals and objectives aligned with the Medical Affairs Plans and other strategic initiatives. He/she will provide support to the Director, manage Medical Affairs Operations, assist with Medical Communication activities, and maintain knowledge databases, among other activities.

Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and responsibilities):

  • Execute on Medical Affairs operations and procedures and promote adherence to best practices
  • Manage budget planning and projections, including purchase orders, invoicing, and accruals
  • Facilitate initiation and approval of Medical Affairs contracts and oversee vendor management activities
  • Assist with managing abstracts, posters, slides, developing manuscripts and medical information letters
  • Support implementation of all aspects of the medical affairs plan, manage and track activities such as: generation of medical communication documents, congress activities such as sponsorships and medical affairs exhibits, educational activities, and scientific meetings with experts
  • Assist with development and execution of advisory board in alignment with medical objectives
  • Develop and maintain a Medical Affairs dashboard and assist with cross-functional coordination of activities
  • Maintain internal knowledge databases, such as creating and maintaining updated slide decks and presentations for external engagement and internal training activities, conducting literature surveillance, and managing the Medical Affairs SharePoint site
  • Assist in acquisition and codification of competitive intelligence
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of necessary Medical Affairs IT infrastructure and resources as required (e.g. website, portals, databases, user acceptance testing, and review of specification documents)

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Advanced degree preferred (PhD or PharmD, Masters in a scientific discipline acceptable with experience)
  • Experience in Pharma/Biotech industry highly desirable (1-3 years)
  • Background in Hemophilia or Huntington’s Disease is a plus, but not required
  • Excellent presentation, written, communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong time and project management skills with attention to detail and the ability to effectively plan and prioritize work and balance multiple projects
  • Functions well in a dynamic environment

  • Strong analytical and logical thinking with ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions and implement recommendations for resolution
  • Ability to understand, synthesize, and communicate complex scientific concepts
  • Must be fully cognizant and adhere to all regulatory, legal, and compliance standards for Medical Affairs activities
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, both US and international
