Place in the Organization:

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Materials Manager is an integral member of the Operations department. The function requires strong interaction skills with the different disciplines within Operation: Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Logistics, Technical Services and Facility Management.

Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and responsibilities):

  • Develop and implement material management strategies, policies, and procedures for a compliant integrated clinical and commercial supply chain
  • Establish, and revise as needed, supply strategy such as min/max, reorder points, safety stock, ensure target inventory levels are achieved, minimizing or eliminating E&O risk, effective management of working capital
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy, tracking, reporting, auditing. Identify, manage and problem solve material availability issues, reduce non-value-added time spent on expediting
  • Oversee the implementation of tools / systems that track, measure, analyze and control inventory levels.
  • Manage all planning, scheduling and material flow issues to meet production schedules, and QC or PD requirements
  • Manage Part Number creation process
  • Develop, support and maintain the processes for the creation / revision of ERP master data
  • Active participant in expanding ERP system functionality
  • Provide leadership of supply chain projects and activities, including purchasing, planning, scheduling. Work with management to design, develop, track and manage process improvements/projects. Recommend process improvements that would benefit the overall efficiency of the materials receipt to point of use process.
  • Develop and report on metrics / KPI
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Scientific Discipline or Engineering and/or 5-7 years’ relevant experience in Supply Chain in a regulated industry
  • Working knowledge and experience with ERP and Quality systems required
  • APICS training or certification, experience with Lean, Six Sigma, TQM or S&OP are a plus
