The role:

uniQure's Adeno Associated Virus (AAV) production platform is based on a baculovirus expression system. The Process Development (PD) department at uniQure Amsterdam is responsible for process development towards Phase I/II clinical testing. Within this department, the Baculovirus Production Unit (BPU) is generating and analyzing new baculoviruses for research and manufacturing purposes in various stages of process development from research to GMP manufacturing.

The BPU team currently consists of one technician and is led by a scientific associate. The (junior) technician will join the BPU team to support the baculovirus generation and analysis processes.

Your responsibilities:

• Generates recombinant baculoviruses for research and GMP manufacturing
• Maintains (insect) cell cultures
• Performs range of molecular biological analyses: cloning, PCR, qPCR, DNA sequence analysis
• Accurately collects, manages, analyzes and documents experimental data.
• Communicates the work and results to the direct supervisor and in group meetings
• Plans and executes own experimental work in connection with time-lines.
• Strengthen the team in daily operations and troubleshooting.

You will need:

• HLO or BSc in Life sciences or equivalent with an internship in a relevant field.
• Experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques, like PCR.
• Basic understanding of cell biology and virology
• Good understanding of biosafety level ML-2 cell culture, preferably experience in working in biosafety ML-2 level environment
• Good verbal and written English communication skills.
• Experience in planning and organization of own work.
• Appropriate level of ownership, energy, hands-on mentality and personal drive
• Analytical thinking
• Flexibility, to act in a fast changing and demanding environment
• Affinity with GLP/GMP
