uniQure is preparing for a commercial launch hemophilia B gene therapy and is currently building its commercial capabilities. This position is responsible for market access and reimbursement and payer marketing for all uniQure’s pipeline. At Director level, he/she will develop payer access & reimbursement launch tactics to ensure broad market access and reimbursement by US and EU payors including national and regional plans, PBMs, State Medicaid, Medicare, and other government payors. He /she will play an active role in defining the payer evidence plan and the pricing strategy development including overseeing the HEOR models. He/she will coordinate closely with cross functional teams to integrate payer strategy into a broader patient access strategy. He/she will be accountable for the development of market access strategies and execution of key tactics by working closely with Pricing/Contracting, National Account, Channel and Distribution, Medical Affairs, and Global market access. He/she will report to the chief business officer.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop market access tactics and managed markets launch plan initially for uniQure’s hemophilia B gene therapy products, and subsequently for other uniQure products including its Huntington’s disease gene therapy product
  • Build the basis for value the proposition with payers for gene therapy products, and determine the business model for payment of a one therapy with enduring benefits
  • Oversee the creation of an HEOR model working with Medical Affairs
  • Serve as the expert for the market access landscape including providers, commercial and government payers, and intermediaries (channel partners, GPOs, and foundations)
  • Provide evidence-based recommendation and plan of action to optimize patient access
  • Conduct primary and secondary US payer research and advisory boards to identify core customer needs including physician office economics, private payer needs, PBM/IDN/ACO objectives, 340B strategies, etc.
  • Develop targeted market access promotional materials for different payors
  • Develop strategy to demonstrate the value of uniQure’s gene therapy products to payers
  • Apply for necessary coding such as J-Code, and CPTs
  • Develop and execute innovative pricing and contracting for gene therapy products
  • Establish a Government Affairs function to obtain information on Government Payers policy as it relates to reimbursement issues.
  • Establish a patient access co-pay and co-insurance workstream and present solutions to challenges related uniQure’s pricing schemes that arise due to government and commercial payer plan designs.
Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in science and/or business strongly preferred
  • 5 – 7 years managed markets experience
  • US/EU market access experience for orphan products; hemophilia and/or gene therapy is experience preferred
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in obtaining reimbursement with Commercial and government payors, and all other stakeholders such as ACO, GPO, and 340 entities ‘
  • Understanding of Commercial and Medicare reimbursement and payment trends in the US, preferably including relationships with key stakeholders
  • Experience in pricing and contracting strategy
  • Understanding of channel partners and channel partner capabilities
  • Demonstration of an ability to embody uniQure’s values
  • Demonstrated leadership in working in cross functional environment and influencing management decisions
  • Effective planning, prioritization, management, and organizational skills
