Main purpose of the job

The Associate Director of Supply Chain is a senior member of the Operations department. The role requires strong collaborative interaction skills with the different disciplines within Operations: Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs, Technical Services, and Facility Management. For CMC and business related topics, cooperation with Process Development, Assay Development, Clinical, Marketing, Finance, Legal Suppliers and business partners is also required.

Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and responsibilities):

  • Direct the planning, procurement and inventory management of all materials for commercial and clinical production well as support groups at the Lexington, MA site by using financial systems, production schedules, forecasts and annual budget projections.
  • Establish, manage and report appropriate service levels of inventory while supporting QA/QC investigations regarding raw material discrepancies in alignment with working capital initiatives.
  • Manage raw material inventory reserves and write-offs. Develop and implement strategies to reduce or eliminate write-offs.
  • Develop and implement short and long term procurement planning strategies toward ensuring 100% availability of raw materials to manufacturing.
  • Establish and maintain high-level supplier relationships which include supplier managed inventory, performance monitoring, corrective action processes and compliance.
  • Develop and implement strategies for managing supplier’s performance and determining risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures for the operation of materials planning, purchasing and master data activities. Ensure activities adhere to applicable corporate policies and are cGMP compliant.
  • Improve processes and systems to drive implementation of lean concepts, reduce cycle time and optimize inventories by implementing best practices in materials planning, purchasing, master data and inventory management.
  • Identify and lead projects and other activities designed to standardize, simplify, automate and continuously improve supply chain processes.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required, preferably in Business, Finance/Economics, Engineering or Supply Chain.
  • BA/BS 8 - 10+ of experience in operations or supply chain or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Pharmaceutical / Biotech Industry experience is required
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP Systems, Materials Requirements Planning, Project Management and cGMP’s required.

  • Able to keep up performance under stress
